Course content

Intensive Spanish Language Class (3 hrs.) After taking a brief entrance exam and oral interview with a Spanish professor, students are placed in small groups according to their previous fluency level. They will work on improving their Spanish language skills in the following areas:

• Reading and writing in Spanish
• Conversation and pronunciation
• Functional Grammar and vocabulary
• Listening and  reading comprehension
• Speaking use and fluency

Practical Spanish (2 hrs.). The class day will be divided between lectures and activities some of the available options include:

• Conversational Spanish: This class focuses on developing conversational skills in Spanish with an emphasis on pronunciation and intonation.
• Spanish Vocabulary and Culture: This class focuses on learning new vocabulary and gaining an understanding of Spanish culture.
• Other activities could include watching videos in Spanish, playing language-learning games, and listening to Spanish music.

Functional Spanish (1 hr.) The objective of this course is to use your acquired knowledge in a daily context, such as at home, school, and social settings, while becoming familiar with Mexican culture and everyday life. We provide different activities such as idiomatic expressions (slang), and discussions of music, movies, newspaper, and popular culture.

Lunchtime (1 hr.) All the Spanish classes are individualized, and the activities take place with your own instructor and other student guests. The instructors will be with you at lunchtime to talk about food, culture, and customs in Oaxaca. This is a great opportunity for you to learn more about Cross-cultural Training.
